One of the prime reasons I go out and buy a PC strategy game is if I see that the video game gets massive support from its developers. League of Legends, one of the best free PC strategy games I've come across, gets periodic patches from the Riot staff (whose ranks include the creators of the Warcraft strategy mod DotA). This downloadable freeware PC real-time strategy game gets balance tweaks, additional champions, and other doodads like skins from time to time.
Unfortunately, sometimes there are problems with its patcher.

It's downloading and the error message is driving you nuts.The solution after the jump.
Select the launcher then press UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT UP UP DOWN DOWN. Enjoy the free PC strategy game. You also will have 30 lives and the megashells power up.

Thanks dude, it worked got passed the server not connected thing but now when Im logging in it says:
Connectuin failure: Unable to connect to the pvp.net server.
Click ok to close the client.
That error usually occurs when they've taken down the servers for maintenance (new champions, balance tweaks, fixing bugs, etc). Check the forums (under "Server Status") they post announcements of that sort there.
If all else fails, you may need to uninstall and install the latest installer they've put out.

Use FRAPS. The demo version is free and it records audio too. The only thing to keep in mind though is that the freeware version only records in 30-seconds increments so you should do the recording with someone to help you start/stop the recording while you play.

hey mine says all updates are complete, but has the "are you connected" message still, i tried your thing and it works. but when i log in, it keeps trying and never logs in. :S help plz

It happens. I haven't any problem with the news but the store is iffy. Sometimes it takes a moment to load.
Methinks I accidentally deleted one comment. To that person (who has problems with loading the game after all updates had been installed): if you have installed the game way before January 18: you might want to uninstall the game, download the installer, and reinstall the game. That happened to me too. However, this should be a last resort. Go to the game's official forums. There are fixes there. I hope this helps you.

Oh. Nothing complex about it. Just make sure you have the launcher selected (not your desktop; it's easy to overlook this). For safe measure, click anything on the launcher that's not clickable - this will ensure that you have the thing selected. Then enter the arrow inputs in the specified order.

Yea this is just a workaround to a rare glitch. For the most part, the servers are truly down/busy.

League of Legends is problematic when it comes to recording. I have a registered (paid $30) for GameCam and whenever I try to record it, the game crashes. Sorry bud.
Give FRAPS a go though. The have a free version that can record 30-second segments. Just have your significant other press "Enter" everytime it ceases to record.

No. There's a glitch in the system I think. Sometimes, even though the servers aren't down, you're greeted with the SERVER UNAVAILABLE screen. Then you have to enter what I detailed above.
However, if the servers are really down, no amount of keyboard sorcery will save us.

For a while this worked and i was very happy, but the last patch made it stop working for me.
I started reading some official troubleshooting FAQ's to try and fix my problem and i found a solution:
Resetting my internet explorer settings (which are linked to Windows internet settings) did the job for me and i no longer need to press up, down, left right.... instead the server is just online and works.
