Nvidia 270.51 Video Card Graphic Driver Benchmark Software Results

Tested out Nvidia's 270.51 video card graphic driver.

Image quality (IQ) improvements in PC games---both strategy and shooter--- are nothing to write home about. Performance also took a hit with my video card graphic driver benchmark software results showing smaller figures.

The Nvidia 270.51 video card graphic driver benchmark software results after the jump.

(Some things to note with this Nvidia video card graphic driver test run: 1. I started using the freeware X3: Terran Conflict benchmark demo 2. Lightsmark 2008 conked out; I need to reinstall the video card benchmark software 3. Since logging in to Steam takes a minute on my PC, I decided not to use it anymore. Moreover, this will be the last time I'm going to use Lost Planet as a video card driver benchmark test, as it shows the same figures every time.)

Nvidia 196.21 Video Card Graphic Driver Benchmark Software Results

I was quite excited about what the results would be when I made my first Nvidia video card graphic driver update two days back, jumping from 195.62 to 196.21. The enthusiasm welled from the fact that I was awfully curious about what the performance gain would be on a relatively new Intel Core 2 gaming PC. (My previous Nvidia graphic card benchmark tests were done on a Pentium 2.4Ghz system.) My initiative in quickly upgrading my driver paid off --- Nvidia GeForce version 196.21 delivers significantly bigger scores in my Nvidia video card graphic driver benchmark tests. (It even increased my Lightsmark 2008 framerate by a full 100%! Up to now I'm quite skeptical with my previous 300+ FPS Lightsmark 2008 score but I'm not about to reinstall 195.62 just to verify that. :D )

Wait. Whoa. I thought I was playing Tribes 3. Why am I in a Temple of Nod?

Nvidia 196.21 video card graphic driver benchmark software results after the jump.

While F.E.A.R. didn't show signs of improvement, my 3DMark06 score jumped by nearly a thousand. Nexuiz also showed significant framerate improvement with the minimum FPS results showing a 2-FPS jump. For the hard figures (along with the settings of the benchmark software I used), see the link below.

Download Dox Optimised 185.68 Video Card Graphic Driver

It's been a long time since I did a video card benchmark test and I must admit I'm several drivers behind. Although at the time of this writing Nvidia has released their GeForce 168.18, I've decided to benchmark the Dox Optimised 185.68 driver. It might be old, but for some reason a lot of people are searching for Dox's 3rd-party tweaked drivers.

These are also the last Dox Optimised drivers to support Windows XP, according to Dox.

Dox Optimised drivers are known for their streamlined package; they don't have the PhysX drivers Nvidia bundles with their releases. Its creator has also removed several registry entries and the Nvidia tray icon, making these the lightest Nvidia video card drivers. They often don't weigh more than 25Mb (in contrast, official Nvidia drivers exceed the 70-megabyte mark).

Dox Optimised 185.68 is no exception --- the download weighs in at only 20.9Mb.

This one has "Desktop Geforce gpu support from 6-GT200 series."

Download Dox Optimised HERE.

Download Dox Optimised 182.46 Video Card Graphic Driver

WARNING: This is a 3rd-party, Nvidia-based tweaked video card driver. Nvidia does not support this software. I also have not tested this one yet. Install at your own risk.

Dox of Laptopvideo2go.com released Dox Optimised 182.46 last March 26. The driver no longer supports hybrid laptops and quadro cards but supports a wide range of Nvidia GeForce video cards (series 6 all the way to the GT200).

It also doesn't come with PhysX, which is a relief for users whose cards don't support it. As a result, the installer is very small, weighing in at 27.3Mb.

The driver "is tweaked for higher performance with minimal loss in IQ (system dependent)."

Download Dox Optimised 182.46 HERE.

(It's spelled that way; a lot of users search for "Dox Optimized.")

Dox Optimized Nvidia 181.20 Video Card Graphic Driver Benchmark Software Results

WARNING: This Nvidia-based video card graphic driver is not supported by Nvidia. I will also offer no technical help if something happens to your system. Install at your own risk.

Some weeks back, some anonymous reader left a comment requesting me to benchmark Dox Optimized 181.20, a third-party Nvidia graphic driver that's tweaked for laptop users. Unfortunately, I was busy at that time with my job and the benchmarking had to wait.

Now though I've finally benchmarked the video card graphic driver and the benchmark results - from a gamer's perspective are mixed: while it shows a healthy result in Nexuiz, the performance dipped in F.E.A.R. and nosedived in Lightsmark. The weak benchmark results in the last two benchmark software though are understandable, given that the Dox Optimized 181.20 is meant for laptops while the Xtreme-G video card graphic drivers are aimed at the gaming community. Still, the Dox Optimized 181.20 doesn't disappoint as it delivers clearer image quality than older Nvidia graphic drivers. Also, it is the more streamlined one judging from the small amount of startup entries it installed:

Thanks reader - whoever you are - for giving me a heads up regarding this tweaked Nvidia-based video card graphic driver.

Xtreme-G Nvidia 181.00 Video Card Graphic Driver Benchmark Software Results

Whoa!

After a long while, the people at Tweakforce have once again made a graphic driver that towers above the rest --- stock Nvidia and tweaked Nvidia-based Xtreme-G graphic drivers alike. The Xtreme-G 181.00 graphic driver presents unparalleled image quality and frame rates that are reasonable for its bumped-up IQ.

Benchmark software results have taken slight hits but with IQ like this, I'm keeping this one.

After eight months since my friend bought F.E.A.R.: Platinum Edition for me, I'm still hooked to the game. Talk about replay value.

Next stops: Nvidia 181.20 WHQL, Nvidia 185.20 Beta, and the Xtreme-G Nvidia 185.20
